Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialized treatment used to encourage the flow of lymph – the fluid that circulates throughout the lymphatic system.
If the lymphatic system is impaired (because of surgery, radiation, disease, or trauma), swelling can occur in the interstital spaces of the tissue without proper drainage, cells are exposed to an undernourished and toxic environment.
MLD will help the body to heal more quickly. It reduces pain, swelling, and stress (by calming the nervous system). MLD can be used in treating musculoskeletal injuries and in pre and post surgical conditions as well (particularly with cancer patients).
